		<description>Wow, this is fine writing.  Every once in a while one of these stories catches me up, surprises me with its feelings, and this is one. A good lesson in how to move directly to an inevitable conclusion, briefly but with texture in the writing, and an emotional impact.  Congratulations, Valerie.</description>

I think it is a story, a whole life in a story. Not soppy, realistic and there is a powerful message there about the nature of love/friendship.
