Mythology! Seriously 99% of the plots here have appeared in mythology somewhere. There are no new plots only new contracts. Or something. I think that the favoured part thing is Egyptian. Well, at least one of them) and he confirmed my original thought. The story was called "Punishment By Proxy" by James Connelly and it was published in the 10th Pan Book of Horror Stories which was released in 1969. Again, I'm implying no wrong-doing, I was just very taken with the similarity between the stories. FWIW I checked with an extremely helpful “Pan Book of Horror” expert (they exist!
