Well, it really has been almost a year since we started publishing—we have an ISSN now, we haven't missed a day, and we're elbow-deep in preparations for a print anthology.  Definitely time for a party.

So... if you're in or near Vancouver BC on September 1st (the Monday of the Labour Day long weekend), you're welcome to come out and join us:

WHERE: Lola's Bar at 2291 West Broadway, Vancouver BC (click here for map) ***this used to be called the Side Door; it is literally a side door, you just have to look for it***
WHEN: Monday, September 1, 2008
TIME: 9 PM+ (no line or cover if you get there before 10 PM, just tell them you're with Every Day Fiction!)

We'd love to meet any authors, readers and/or friends of EDF—come on out and celebrate with us!

If you're on Facebook, you can click here to RSVP. Or just reply to this thread right here.  If we know you're coming, we'll know to look for you!  And if you can't make it to this one, don't worry... we'll be needing to launch the antho later in the fall, won't we?

Wish I was near enough to come - you have so much to celebrate! A great first year in which the site's gone from strength to strength. I hope there will be streamers, and a big cake.

Happy first birthday, EDF!!

Camille:

I am so tempted; it's less than three hundred miles, round trip, but unless I make a big sale between now and then, I'm afraid gasoline prices are just too prohibitive.

Maybe those prices will drop before we launch the antho, K.C.!  We'll keep our fingers crossed for that.  In any case, if you can only make one trip, I'd say save it for the antho launch—this one's just a party night, and that will be (hopefully) signings and readings in a (maybe) real bookstore.

Thanks for the kind wishes from across the Atlantic, Sarah & M.

Funny that I just asked when the big freakin' party was.

I wish that I could be there in person on the 1st to say, "Congrats, EDF on a groundbreaking, ass-kicking year.  Happy Birthday."  But I can't make it, so I'll say it now.

However, I'm very seriously considering showing up for the launch party.  Especially with all those hopefully and maybes attached to it.  I hope you'll post more about the whens and wheres of that one as soon as humanly possible, so I can mark those days as Fun with EDF.

Have a great party.

Sorry I can't make the party. Maybe I'll sneak down to the kitchen, see if we have any cake, and give a remote salute.

So, anybody got a good story about EDF for the anniversary? I've got an embarassing one. We could have a roast.

Will there be party hats?   Grin

I can't make it, either way - quite a long distance from steamy Florida - but I am wishing you guys all the best and all the success possible.  I am proud to be a small part of the EDF Phenomenon.

Great work, guys!

I'd like to, but I just can't get there on the 1st.
But I'll say Happy Birthday now and if you give me a little notice, perhaps I might make the launch.
EDF's First Birthday! What a great year!!!

Hey, did I miss a news post on Sunday?  In the beginning of the interview with N Ozment, it said there's be a post about all the upcoming things and events etc here at EDF.  I wasn't sure if that was going to be on the site or via email.  Of course, I suppose I should be more concerned with putting up storm shutters, having enough water, etc since Tropical Storm/Hurricane Fay is on her way...   Smiley

Hi Madeline,
Yes, I was wondering the same thing about the EDF news. I assumed it was the mention of the party that they announced earlier. Where do you live in Florida? I live here also!

Howdy,

We were hoping to post about Every Day Poets (the site is coming together at www.everydaypoets.com), but some of the staff members are travelling and haven't gotten in contact with us yet!  I will post something hopefully in the next couple of days.

Jordan, that sounds good.  I had thought it might be something about the anthology, though.   Smiley

ACarlton - we're keeping an eye on Fay over here on the west coast.  How about you?  Battening down the hatches or not so much?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDF! One year old and you're already sneaking across the border to Canada and drinking with a fake ID, you precocious little devil. Have a drink on me.

I've added some pictures of the party to EDF's Facebook page...

Apparently this is a "public" link so that even people who are not on Facebook should be able to see the pictures:
http://www.new.facebook.com/album.php?aid=151637&l=a5c10&id=44830670544

In any case, it was good fun.  You should know, though, that Jordan is very good at playing pool (a fact I had not previously known) and I'm pretty well awful.
