July’s Table of Contents

editorial by Camille Gooderham Campbell

From the Editors

We hope everyone in North America is enjoying their holiday this week — Canada Day today up here, and Independence Day in the US on Friday! Happy flags and fireworks, and please be safe if you are setting the latter off yourself.

This is the halfway point of the year, so maybe it’s a good time to remind our friends that if you’re enjoying the daily stories from EDF, you might consider making a donation or buying a book or ad space to help us keep them coming.

For Readers

Sadly, we didn’t receive any special stories for Canada Day or Independence Day, but why not go back and read a couple of little treats from our archives? Here are two of my personal favourites from way back: “The Maple Leaf Maneuver” by K.C. Ball and “Subdivision Smack-down” by Mary Ann Back.

As always, we have an interesting variety of stories for you this month — oddly heavy on cats, science fiction, and really bad luck. Not sure why.

If you’d like to chat with us about how EDF is doing and what you’d like to see from us in the future, just click on the “Community” link in the black bar up top, and you’ll find a variety of different social media places where you can express your opinion and engage with other community members.

For Writers

At this time, we’re hoping for some end-of-summer and back-to-school stories to feature in late August and early September (deadline July 27th). And then you could even start thinking about Halloween…

But really, here’s the information you were looking for…
