Unfortunately, there is no story published today because we expect the site to be down most of the day while Every Day Fiction is moved to a new and improved server.

We chose not do any story the disservice of publishing it on a day when it would most likely go unread.
We’re looking forward to bringing back the author pages and adding other cool features once we’re in our sparkling new server home.

I’m afraid I don’t understand this story at all.

what a weird story.
also cool drawing

i’d forgotten about this. Love the drawing. Hope the move goes okay and nothing gets lost.

I hope the stories will be at least as good, the roundtable continue, and not be overtaken and wrestled to the floor by “about the artist” biographies like some tenth rate T.V. program. In my mind I was rating EVERYDAY FICTION as the top online magazine along with NEW YORKER MAGAZINE.” There are many great ways to expand a magazine without lowering it to “famous personalities we are so impressed with.”

I like learning about the authors behind the stories and am looking forward to using the new and approved website. ;~)

Love the illustration. Put a smile on my face. Roberta: What?

I do like authors comments about writing.
I don’t care about a meeting with their charming wives/husbands(plural), fun dogs, charming cottages, beautiful children, or their lunches with impressive, important producers/publishers (unless, of course, I’m invited.)

Hey EDF,
Love that artwork.
Them’s three hard-working editors!

Can I start adding little drawings in the middle of my stories like anonymous up there?
Hurray for all the stuff back! Thanks, EDF.
Roberta: The author pages are user-optional. There’s a link at the top of the page that can remain unclicked. If you click it, you’ll get to a list of authors whose stories have appeared at Every Day Fiction.
If you click on an author, you’ll get a very brief bio–like the one under my story yesterday–a picture of us, and a clickable list of all of our stories here. AND links to stories elsewhere, as well as links to our blogs, websites, stores, etc. All optional. This front page stays the same, nothing is mailed to you other than stories.
Only your options will change when things are restored. No worries about having to learn that my Yorkie is named Luke or that I only eat coffee for breakfast. But you might learn about practicing joyful oddness if you want to.
Have a great day!

testing

Steven:
I get an error message when I try to open the Top Ten Stories list and the Authors link is still reading disabled. Are both of those to be expected this early in the transition?
Also, (and I left you a message in the Forums, too) there doesn’t seem to be any way to return here to the main page from the Forums.
January 10th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
BTW, I like the new Forum look.

Today’s non-story is getting some top-notch votes. Congratulations on the successful move, by the way.

@KCBall Fixed the top ten story page. I will get to the forums soon…

Kevin Shamel-
Thanks for the clarification. It seems to me there is no doubt that the magazine will continue and add to its success and I thank all those involved for its addition to the day. As for “joyful oddness,” I don’t have to practice. I am spontaneously odd. But – is there an advanced course?
January 11th, 2009 at 12:38 pm
There’s always an advanced course.

Would have been nice if this had been announced, in advance, in some VERY OBVIOUS, UNMISSABLE way before the event. Had some of us wondering if you had a major meltdown or something when we got error messages for a couple days running. But what I have seen so far looks good (haven’t tried everything yet).
