THE EDGE OF THE SKY • by Tommy B. Smith

“The world is round!” argued one of the angels.

“No!” contested another. “It is flat!”

Many of the angels believed that Heaven was round, and they assembled to construct vessels of divine radiance. The answers were revealed to them in an unexpected fashion, when the shimmering beings inadvertently sailed off the edge of their world to plummet through the atmosphere.

Looking at the night sky, Andy suddenly began to shout, and his father rushed over.

“What is it, son?”

“Look, dad!” Andy cried, pointing upward. “A falling star!”
